Deer Camp 2014

Welcome to Deer Camp....

an incredible amount
of trophy bucks
hunted and harvested
in a 10 square mile area!

 we can't remember
a better deer season
opener  EVER....

These eight hunters
(all friends and neighbors)
had a fantastic hunt
and could not wait to haul their
tagged deer back to camp
and share their stories...

Taylor (on the right) has hunted deer before.
Her sister, Tyra, (on the left...)
shot her first deer today....

It's a FIRST for both girls
to be included with the
Seasoned Veterans
at Deer Camp...

The old boys and the young girls
all agreed this season's
amazing antler harvest
is a first
was worth taking a group photograph...

a picture for the history book
proof of
one hell-of-a-hunting story!!

Good Work Hunters!

it's here!

I don't like the smell of it
or the feel of it...

But, it's here to stay
and I really
don't have anything to say about it...

We had some hunters and their dogs
here from North Carolina...

Their dogs didn't mind
hunting in the cold white stuff...

But the men were a little cold!!!

The pheasants were tough to track down
and quick to escape....

 But, they all have some
good stories to take back
to North Carolina

 They actually shot some birds
to take home!

and they have some good memories of freezing
in the fields of South Dakota!

Y'all come back now!

Our resident pheasants have all left the property
now too...
They tend to hide out near
farm feed lots when the snow gets deep.
Can't say I blame them!

If I were a bird,
I'd want to be a goose!
Winter in the south
Summer in the North

Some birds
(like people)
are just smarter than others!

Until next time...
(I'll be hanging out in the fields)

Hunting In Progress

The hunting has been a little tougher this year,
unless you are hunting with a camera...

these boys met me on the road
on my way to the lodge yesterday...

 Our coldest morning yet...

 It was another great day
 of photographing pheasants and hunters
and of course,
I love me some good editing...

 a little "cross-processing"
is a great way to end a hunt!

Check out my new page FIELD PHOTOGRAPHY
(click on the tab under our Header)
where I will post highlights
of the weekly hunts!

Thanks for wandering by...
see you in the field!
I am processing photos, books and dvds....
Will be mailing out A.S.A.P!!
