Morning Tea and Flowers

I get a cheery tail-wagging
morning greeting from Max
EVERY morning!
(I wish everyone could wake up happy!)

Today let's fill our cup with tea (or coffee)
whatever your prefer...

and head over to Shakespeare Garden....

It's lovely in the morning sun!

We'll sit by the pond
and ponder our day....

A little birdie told me
about the Teas they
have at the cottage...

If you'd like to see,
come with me....

tell how strong she is until you put her
in hot water.

Fishin' the Missouri

We are just a hop, skip, and a jump
away from the Missouri River and Big Bend Dam...

so for a few weekends now we like to
drive out there and keep an eye
on the water and the flooding conditions...
this shot was taken 3 weeks ago..
150,000 sq foot per second passing through the spillway

two weeks later you can see how all the water
has carved out the land at the bottom of the spillway
it's now flooded most of the area
between the spillway and actual dam....

including the campground and playground ~
we were all swinging here 2 weekends prior to this shot....

the pelicans have become
campground keepers,
patrolling the road for speeders!

over by the dam the water is moving
so fast the swirling current made me nervous!

Eric and Rachel wanted to touch the water!
I was like a nervous old Grandma telling them not to.

I think I heard this pelican saying
"Chill out Gramma!"

Then I calmed down and even
let Sall put in a fishin' line!

Wow, the fishin' was good!
It hardly took any time at all before
he caught a walleye and a bass BIG enough to keep!

Yep, that's a grown man
doing the "happy dance"....

"Walleye for dinner, kids!"

Hope you're enjoying a great weekend!

A Great Date Night

Sall and I spent the day catching up
with neighbors and friends...
it was much too hot to do
anything else!

This evening we were on our
way home, I stopped to take
some sunset shots and noticed
fireflys in the ditch!

The sun was down...
and with the light of a half moon
there was plenty of natural light to see by,
so on our back woods dirt road we
traveled the rest of the way home
with our headlights off
so we could see the fireflys better!

We were both like
a couple of little kids!
Astonished at all the lightning bugs
twinkling in the ditches!

In all of my 47 years I've never
witnessed such a spectacular
show of lightning bugs!

I highly encourage
anyone in this area to take
an afterdark venture
out to the meadow
and see a wonderful show
sponsored by Mother Nature!
If you are really feeling
adventurous you can fight the
mosquitoes and go out and capture
some in a jar!

Saturday Night,
just me and my boyfriend
and 10,000 lightning bugs...
Priceless!

The Sweet Smell of Roses

That's what I was
smelling while
mowing around the
two old-fashioned
rose bushes in our yard
the other day....

I was mowing...

the bees were pollinating...

the sweet rosy
scent was
drifting across
the grass...

it all took me
back to
my childhood...

I would pull the pedals
off the rose bush in front
of our house....
then throw them in the air
while I jumped off the picnic table!

a crazy thing to do
but, I was happy!!

What are your sweet summer memories
made of?

Our summer has been filled
with sun and fun so far...

Two large paint jobs -

Thank goodness for inside painting work!

My brushes don't work well out in the heat!!

Hope you've been
busy as a...
