We take care of the land...it takes care of us.

We're just a couple of country dwellers......

that love nature, hunting, fishing, gardening, campfires, crafting, cooking, canning, laughter and living!!

Ya just never know what I'll blog about next...

So visit us often!

Some Comfort On A Blustery Day

Gale force winds
and rain
has us all hunkered down
inside our house (and chicken coop)
today....

It's a good day
for comfort food...

We started the day
with Brunch...

some farm fresh ingredients...

 Our fresh asparagus
and farm raised eggs,
added to Canadian Bacon,
and Havarti cheese
made a delicious Quiche!!

MMMM...

Now if the wind would just
let up???

I'll let you know if the electricity stayed
on long enough to cook supper!!

Sending comforting thoughts out this evening,
Hugs,

Happy Friday the 13th

It's too wet outside to do anything...

what a ducky day!

The rain was needed...

the dust was getting out of hand...

the ducks on the pond are happy
they're not choking on our dust
as we drive by today!

Ducky days
are great for ducks

and

nature lovers....

a nice cleansing rain
to brighten the landscape...

Beautiful!

Is It That Time Again?

Feeling older today....

But, not obsolete!

I gotta admit 48 is getting way too close to 50 though...

whatever happens,
I refuse to BE old!

I thought about what I could do today...

The Farmer's Almanac advises
these things today....

dry fruits and vegetables
(it's a little early for that here)

Castrate Farm Animals
(none of those here, except for Sully)

Perform Demolition
(Don't tempt me, I've been wanting a new bathroom for 9 years!!)

Wash Wooden Floors
(that's a daily thing around this house)

and last,

Start Diet to Lose Weight
(the Farmer's Almanac must be psychic!)

Seriously,
I'm not doing a darn thing today
and that's just how I like it!

lazy squirrel

Wish you were here...

we could have some birthday cake...

(Bring your own fire extinguisher!)

Have a Happy Day,

Freeze Frame

It was a memorable morning....

Easter Sunday....

Mr. Robin and I enjoyed
our own Sunrise Service....

one of those mornings
meant to capture
and keep in a safe place...

We enjoyed watching
the sun come up...

slowly lighting up
the blossoms on the plum trees...

Thankfully I captured the blossoms
in pixels....

I'm framing the photos....

Because this morning's
freezing temperatures
stole the life from our
blossoming trees!!

So much for lilac bouquets this year!

Oh well, we will still count our blessings,
and be thankful it didn't snow!!

A Joyful Friday

T.G.I.F.!!

here with something
for Friday's Fences
and
some
springtime JOY....

Here on the prairie,
we are all happy to be outdoors tilling
and mowing again....

the chickens are out
pickin' and grinnin'....

the snow fence got rolled up
and put away for the time being...

That made Max happy!
It's not so far around now to the dumping station
He can go out, do his duty, and get back to
his nap a lot quicker now!!

Oh, the simple pleasures
of life on the prairie!!

Have a terrific day!!
Smiles...

Waiting For the Weekend

Howdy Friend....

Got any big plans you want to tell me???

Sall and I have been talking garden talk...
we cleared a big section over the weekend
and got onions, garlic, and some spinach planted!!
The garden asparagus patch is
way ahead of the ditch asparagus,
we've enjoyed a couple meals
of it already!!

including my FAVORITE
Beef Oscar....

a nice grilled rib-eye, topped with asparagus
drizzled with hollandaise sauce,
all bedded on an English muffin

What a treat!

This is a new record for April 1st!
I hope the April Fools thing doesn't
come back and bite us!!

Last night was a close call!
Our thermometer got down to 33.4 F this morning...

There will be several frost warnings
in the next several weeks...

the buds on the trees all think that it is June
I have to keep referring to the calendar myself!

Crazy Weather!!

Have I told you
how much I love Spring??

and warm weather....

and the smell of fresh mowed grass...

and Easter bonnets...
(got your's yet?)

and weekends at home on the farm...

and pansies!!!!

Hope your week is full of Joy!!

A Country Morning

Sunrise at the farm...

The farmers are
gathered at the
coffee shop
for morning headlines

The early birds like
to
gather for
morning updates...

Everyone's discussing
today's weather...

A heavy cloud bank
coming through
early...

75 by this afternoon...

Looks like a fine day for
getting some work done...

Plenty of things to
do outside...

Guess I'll get to work on that garden...

The birds are singing to me,
hope they don't mind if I work
while they perform!

Keep a song in your heart...

Since I've Been Gone

I finished my paint job,
and today it feels good to be home again!

Nine days of painting at somebody else's house...
all I could think about was how nice it
would be if someone was doing my
spring cleaning!!

The wind has been howling (what's new)
for the last couple days,
but today might be the day I've been
waiting for to hang out sheets
and wash some very dirty windows!!

Here's a little recap of the last two weeks
since I've been away...

Spring is here to stay and it feels and smells wonderful!...

Some of the migrating geese have
chosen their spots to set up and nest...

The cranes have arrived...
we spotted them on a foggy day,
feeding in last year's corn field...

We took a little road trip to Kansas City...

Our grand-daughter turned two,
all of her little friends showed up
and at the end of the day
Grandpa and Grandma
looked about like this old sedan...

The girls were excited
and we all had a great time!

Trees were blossoming in K.C., the forsythias
were about done!  Strangely though, our yard
is just as green as down there and our lilacs
are pushing their luck this early!!

Signs of spring everywhere...

Time to bring some freshness indoors
and hike down a country road without a coat!!

Spread some sunshine today!

Hugs,
