Happenings At Fort Sall

We finally got our blizzard!

The winter we never had decided
to make it all happen on Leap Day...

The snow is still blowing here
winds are expected to die down this evening....

We haven't been snowed in all winter...
until now...

Remember?

When snow piles were forts?

and Making igloos...

Snow days were spent defending the fort

and sledding....

Dad would pull us kids around the pasture behind his truck...

No helmets required,
snacking on snow was a necessity....

Snow days rocked!

"Isn't winter the best?"

"It is when it happens on Leap Day!"

Now days...
Snow days are good for reminiscing
and catching up on sleep!

What are you doing on this Leap Day?

I'd love to hear about it....
(unless you'd rather nap)

I'm linking this post with Marty's "A Stroll Thru Life"
the last image is a vignette of old family photos
I proudly display in the bedroom.

Great photos!

I remember snow days very well, playing in the snow till my fingers and toes were so cold I couldn't move them, then I would cry because Mom would make me go inside!

I still cant stay outside in the snow long before my toes are frozen! I blame the sledding days at Rhonda and Lyle's!! So much fun, but oh the pain of thawing out.....

No snow or blizzard here. Neat old snow pictures!

Here we have cloudy conditions w/occasional rain, The wind blowing like crazy. We have 70F and are in a tornado watch area.

I'm ignoring the whole thing...

We got it too...finally! My only complaint? It's so heavy I can hardly shovel.

I just adore your old photos. I think the top one is my favorite!

Too funny! I was wishing I had that photo this morning while I was blogging in my head. I remember dad pulling us around the icey streets, in town, on a tobaggan.
Can you imagine doing that now? First of all he would get ticketed then social services would take the kids away!

Your photos do bring back great memories when snow was our friend. When snow meant hours of play and imagination. When we didn't mind if toes and fingers were nearly frozen. Great pictures.

Those are some great old photos! We have some like that in our family. They're fun to look at and see how things have changed over the years.
