Farm Fresh Friday #19
and
Welcome to Farm Fresh Friday!
The tomatoes just keep coming!!
Yesterday I put up my last batch of
tomato juice!
Tuesday I put up the last batch of "Sallsa"!
I'm still befuddled by my last batch of salsa,
that was my fifth batch this season...
I did them all exactly the same
and yet none of the jars sealed??
I waited and waited...
I got up a 3 A.M. to check
and NOT ONE jar sealed!!
Sall got up early the next morning,
emptied them all back into the pot
heated to boiling and put them in
4 new quart jars,
those sealed, Finally!
I think I'm going to have to
write a gripe-letter to KERR!
(what a pain!)
From seed packets and tender little
starter plants...
After months of tending those
beautiful vegetables...
when harvest comes,
you totally expect the
jars you buy to store them
in will do the job!
Ugh, sometimes this canning process
can be very frustrating!!
(I'll let ya know how my
gripe letter to KERR turns out)
Meanwhile,
sister and I got to spend the
night in the city last Friday!
With a Farmer's Market,
Sidewalk Art Festival,
our aunt's auction sale,
and our brother's 60th birthday party
all scheduled for Saturday...
we decided to get
a motel room and stay
the night so we could get
an early start and hit it ALL!!
It was a busy day
and
oh,
how
we
enjoyed
every
minute!!!!
The Farmer's Market was just
a block from our motel room
in Sioux Falls.
Visiting with the vendors is such a delight...
I love talking shop with people
who love to garden and can!!
There is always something
new to learn in the business of
growing and marketing your own product!!
Have you tried selling a product
at a farmer's market?
Do you have any tips you'd like to share?
This is a place to share all things FRESH,
homemade and/or home-grown.
There is no rule that it has to be made by you or grown by you,
just the fact that it was
hand made or grown by somebody
and not mass-produced or imported from Timmbucktu is good enough for us!!
