Good Times and Pheasants

At the end of the day....

in South Dakota....

after you've walked
through miles of corn....

crossed creek beds....

surrounded slough bottoms....

After you've shot at
loads of pheasants...

At the end of the day...

after breathing in cool fresh air...

hearing the sound of nothing
but corn stalks brushing your boots

and

the fluttering of wild wings taking flight...

with nobody but good friends
and your loyal dog at your side....

At the end of the day...

after the birds are bagged

and an excellent cook has
turned your bounty
into a feast fit for a king...

At the end of day....

you sit down and relive
it all

in front of the fire
with a glass of Irish whiskey in one hand
and a good cigar in the other....

because...

At the end of the day...

the hunt is over
but the memories live forever.

Cheers!

Wowsers! Great pics. Might have to book my husband a hunt. Would he need to be gone a week or a month? I'll take the month package.

Great photos and End of the Day memory post.

(Irish Whiskey you say, ever had PADDY'S? I am an Official Irish Whiskey Taster, from the land itself, thanks to Mr Irish Garden House who volunteered me. The best . . . my favorite. I drink it neat . . . very smooth.)
