We take care of the land...it takes care of us.

We're just a couple of country dwellers......

that love nature, hunting, fishing, gardening, campfires, crafting, cooking, canning, laughter and living!!

Ya just never know what I'll blog about next...

So visit us often!

Spring weather
has arrived

Just in time
for Easter Weekend...

ready for a

Sall and the cats
have been giving me
a minute by minute
snow melt report
from the front porch....

I guess it's been
melting so fast you can
see it disappear
(so they say)

I've been busy
with a new project
(stay tuned for that)...

but, we
did manage to pull
ourselves away
from the excitement at home
to watch the
Annual Gann Valley
Easter Egg Hunt

population:  14

I think their Annual Easter Egg Hunt
is just as popular as Pheasant Hunting
is in South Dakota...

kids came out in DROVES!!!

Kids of all ages...

all geared with running shoes,
and a bucket, basket
or a bag!!

I had forgotten
how serious it was
to hunt eggs...

of course, around here,
we start honing our
hunting skills very early!!

I think the town
must have hid 50 or 60 plastic
candy filled eggs
for every resident
in town!

Every kid came back with
handfuls of candy
and a big grin!

What a fun day for the kids
(and me too!)

The next time you're
in Gann Valley stop in for a soda
and leave'em a little egg money:)

Happy Easter!!

Monday Mosaic

a little Monday Mosaic
to start your week out...

Yep, that's me in front of Mom's
Petunia bed...

some lovely lilacs
(can you smell the LOVE?)...

I threw in a "Spring Chicken"
(just cause my hubby turned 62
this weekend!)
Happy Birthday Sall!

we celebrated all weekend
long with good food,
strawberry cheese cake,
calls from the kids
and grandkids,
and plenty of relaxation...

I'm now proclaiming "His"
birthday is over!
and time to start
thinking about mine...

The snow's bound to melt one of these days??
Start your week out
with a big ol' smile!
as in GRIN and BEAR...

Poor Punx

So I hear there's
a posse out looking
for Punxsatawny Phil!!

I'm in.

I'll split the $$$
to put the little liar in jail...

I bet he's scared
of his OWN shadow now!!

Happy Weekend...
hope you're
doin' what you like to do!

Happy Spring?

Preparing for Spring here!

(random image via internet)

With a high of 24 degrees today,
we are looking at our wood pile
thinking we should have
been a little more conservative!

Maybe I should be knitting
some nice wool garden sweaters??

(random image via internet)

Really, this is ridiculous!!

More snow is predicted for this weekend....

 Happy Spring!!

How about
your Birthday dress????

(sister, Rhonda, circa 1964)

March is full of fun surprises...

so I hope you are ready!!

I will probably be stuck
at the end of this snowy road
until JUNE!!

(save me some cake, PLEASE!)

Happy Snowy and Blowy Tuesday,

Got Spring?

Has anyone seen spring yet??

oh where, oh where
can it be??

I have seen a bunny or two
in our yard...

we've got some snow to melt
before there's
any Easter Egg Hunt
in this back yard!!

This was the scene out the
living room window this morning...

I suddenly had a new
appreciation for winter...

For a few moments
(while I snapped a bunch of photos)

I forgot about spring
and forgot about my
ill-gotten attitude towards
every new snow storm...

A gloriously beautiful
morning interrupted
by one more white-knuckle
drive through 2 foot snow drifts
on my way to work....

yep, that took care of my
new appreciation for winter!!

Send me some "Spring"!!

Happy Monday All,

Happy March!

March is such a welcome
month at our house....

we made it through
another ugly
South Dakota Winter
(although this one
was VERY mild,
it was still ugly)

When March comes
along it's time
to start thinking...

just being outdoors again!!!

 We spotted a pair
of turtle doves in the front yard
this weekend...

They played hide and seek with me...

The thick blue spruce was a good hiding spot...

I hope they make a nest there?

I hope somebody tells them how
this is a great place to settle down....

the food is plentiful,
and the rent is cheap!

One last pretty picture
of what March means to me...

These were a gift for Sall's sister,
who retired from Sanford Hospital this month...
30 years of medical trans-scripting is a lot of typing!!!

Congratulations Sara!!!

Have a marvelous Monday!
