'57 Fixation

A few miles west of Sall Farm is a chunk of land known to a certain group of
hunters as (simply) the "west place".
I believe it is even a little more remote than this farm!
Every year we are fortunate enough  to tag along
and enjoy hunting this great little piece of property.
It's given Sall some great hunting and me some great photos!!
This is the place where the old Chevy sits corroding away into the landscape.
Every year this group of hunters displays their bounty on the hood and all climb
onto the car for the traditional "Hunting Shot".

This weekend the group included some of the wives
 and one of the up-and-comers...
little Hank.
He got the proud spot next to Grandpa Kevin
and then wouldn't show his face for the picture!

One great bunch of people...
And one rusty old Chevrolet...
and you've got some awesome photos for the history book.

Believe me that old car has seen a lot of history.

And if we're lucky we will all continue the tradition
and show up in this field for many years to come....
50 years from now, Hank will have many good stories to tell his friends
when they come to hunt.

With any luck the old chevy will last as long as
the good stories that have been made around it.

Alright, (and for you car buffs), so it's not one of the acclaimed 1957's.
I suppose if it were, it would be in the restoration garage by now.
So what model year do you think it is?

Make some great history and have a great Monday,
Lisa

P.S. It's Mosaic Monday and I'm sharing this post with Mary at Little Red house.

LIsa, another great post! Hank is adorable. What great memories you are preserving for everyone in your photos. The car is in very good shape for a '57---I'm a '58 make and model myself, and I sure don't look that good!

Isn't is something how out in the country we name different pieces and parcels of land by familiar titles and everyone who has history in the area knows just where you're talking about? We have two woods here and they will forever be named after the farmers who owned them 100 years ago. Sometimes I wish I knew the history behind the names more--we have a 'Chicago Corners' a mile from here that is nothing more than an intersection now, but back in the day was an important place. I love the country life!

Beautiful post. Enjoyed seeing all the different effects you used. I like old cars ... rusty or not. Great memories and good friends. Can't beat that.

Thanks for the comments and compliments gals! and Yes, Karen, it is funny how the old names stick to our country landmarks. I can't give anyone directions I just say left at the Shimke place, right at Remford Slough, etc. They look at their map and don't have a clue. Hah! Oh, at my husband's request, I had to add/edit my post and make it clear that the old chevy is not a '57. I told him I just like how it sounds "57 fixation". He just shook his head.

What a cool old car! I love the montages you created with it.
There are lots of old cars like this in the SW desert and you always wonder how they got there.

Oh, I know of a few portrait photographers who would LOVE to use that old car as a backdrop! You have captured it so beautifully. Thanks for sharing at MM. :)
