Frosty Friday

I'm having a hard time believing it's November already.
This weekend the clocks move back an hour
and the days will get even shorter!!
Here at the Sall farm, we have difficulties
making it through 4 months without sunshine
and without sticking our hands in the dirt.
A couple of spindly house plants just doesn't cut it!!
I guess it's the price we pay for living in the great state of South Dakota.

I enjoy Tootsie's link up party...Flaunt Your Flowers.
Although, it's been a little hard to grow anything outdoors,
we've been having frosty mornings here since Oct. 2nd.

even the concrete statue in the garden is hoping for a warm blanket.

But, we can reminisce and look back at the photos we have of
the garden and all it's bounty....

What a great year for cucumbers!!

The flowers were all gorgeous thanks to my little helper, Domino!

I miss those warm sunny days already and would give anything
to be able to go out and pull some weeds around the dill.
(never thought I'd say that again!)

Hmmm, back to November,
enjoy the rest..
let my back heal...
watch the starlings feast on the cedar berries
(through my kitchen window).

for, all that is flourishing right now, are the evergreens.

I'll have to start talking to my Christmas cactus,
reminding it what month it is.

and as soon as I can buy some new Poinsettias
MAYBE I can coax this mixture....

back to it's original state
which was this last December....

I better go find the fertilizer!!

Have a fantastic Friday!!
Lisa

Now check out some more flowers at Tootsies site.....

Love the pic of the little girl watering the flowers. Precious.

We've had a couple of hard frosts here in Iowa - the skeeters are finally gone, anyway. That rocks.

Love the pics!

I think you have an entire green fist and not just a green thumb. I am sure that Christmas cactus will step up and provide you with plenty of blooms.

Lisa, what a beautiful place you have. I am right there with you, keep looking back at the summer thinking "where did it go?" I would love to be weeding tomorrow but I may just lounge with a throw, cup of tea and a good book :)

Lisa, as always, I enjoy your posts so much! And I agree with you, where did the warm weather go? I was out weeding today while cleaning up the gardens for fall and was shivering in my boots. Hate to admit it, but I'd rather be sweating--though, like Casey, I don't miss the swatting of mosquitoes right now. That's the best thing about cold weather.

Your previous post on your wonderful dog was so touching, it brought me to tears. Dogs are special friends, and I miss my old Sparky, too.

Hope you have a great weekend. Karen
