Christmas Card Collecting
(Before we had computers)
I would live to get a letter in the mailbox.
Something about a letter
from someone you know just makes a gray day go away!
That's why I still love sending (and getting)
Christmas cards in the mail.
Our lives are all too busy for letter writing anymore...
we prefer a quick email and reply
While emails keep us up-to-date,
they don't keep me in-touch!
So we try to, at least once a year,
send that special Christmas card that says,
"Hey, we're still here and we still care about you"!
I don't mind sitting down and writing out cards at all,
but my favorite thing is receiving them....
I've been saving Christmas cards since Sall and I got married.
What a fun collection,
what great friends and family we have!!!
Such a variety of greetings...
all beautiful and special in their own way...
We usually get hand-made ones from Sall's two artist children....
(I still need to frame them)
It's always a hunting scene from Sall's brother....
(It's their common bond)
I love the picture of Sall's Nephew's kids
(they are dog lover's like us)
next Christmas they'll have a human baby to photograph!
(Congratulations, Maggie and Ben will be great siblings!)
Every year we look forward to Aunt Mickey's typed letter...
she's 90 something and still types
her Christmas letter on a manual type-writer.
She got married this year (God bless her)
can't wait for this year's letter!!
And then there's my sister's letter...
another entertaining one that I wait for anxiously!
It's always something cute she's done on the computer
full of cute pictures and chuckles.
Now, if I expect to receive any cards this year
I better get busy and start sending some out!!
Let's see now,
do we want to go traditional and country-style?
Or,
whimsical and cute?
I guess time will tell who gets what.
Dear Friend,
Sending you warm wishes
for a Holiday Season filled with happiness.
Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!
Lisa
