A Great Date Night

Sall and I spent the day catching up
with neighbors and friends...
it was much too hot to do
anything else!

This evening we were on our
way home, I stopped to take
some sunset shots and noticed
fireflys in the ditch!

The sun was down...
and with the light of a half moon
there was plenty of natural light to see by,
so on our back woods dirt road we
traveled the rest of the way home
with our headlights off
so we could see the fireflys better!

We were both like
a couple of little kids!
Astonished at all the lightning bugs
twinkling in the ditches!

In all of my 47 years I've never
witnessed such a spectacular
show of lightning bugs!

I highly encourage
anyone in this area to take
an afterdark venture
out to the meadow
and see a wonderful show
sponsored by Mother Nature!
If you are really feeling
adventurous you can fight the
mosquitoes and go out and capture
some in a jar!

Saturday Night,
just me and my boyfriend
and 10,000 lightning bugs...
Priceless!

Great shots! I can never seem to photograph them well. We sit out on our porch and watch them across the cornfields. The girls say it is better than firework displays.

Oh, what an awesome picture of the fireflies! I've so been enjoying ours here and had wondered if a photo of them would turn out. So thanks for sharing yours. (I also very much enjoyed your post, above. I would have been nervous beside all the water, too!) :) Blessings, Debra
