Blizzard Alert

While there have been several sightings
of Robins out there in Blogland...

We have yet to see any here
in eastern South Dakota!
The sparrows were all very busy yesterday
and this morning gathering and prepping
for today's blizzard....

That's right, there have been
teams of meteorologists spreading
the word, and warning pretty much
everyone in the state to get prepared
for a major blizzard!
Schools were called off, 100's of cancellations
across the state!

This morning?

Nothing!

Sall stayed home from work
to avoid any snow-filled, ice-packed predicaments!

Nothing!!

Then finally at noon...

this is was what we saw...

Okay, the huge snow flakes were melting
when they hit the window, sorry!

I'll open my window....

First came the rain,
now it's huge snow flakes...

Allright, maybe those weathermen
know what they are talking about
after all! (maybe they started listening
to the birds?)....

I'm brewing up some hot cocoa,
want to join me?

Winter ain't over yet folks!

WINTER Poem...

It's winter in South Dakota
And the gentle breezes blow
Seventy miles an hour
At thirty-five below.

Oh, how I love South Dakota
When the snow's up to your butt
You take a breath of winter
And your nose gets frozen shut.

Yes, the weather here is wonderful
So I guess I'll hang around
I could never leave South Dakota
I'm frozen to the ground!

It wouldn't be the first time they were wrong altogether or in the timing. Gorgeous photos, though! I'm still jealous. I don't think we're going to see any real snow this winter.

I've been waiting for that same blizzard to arrive but it looks like just some freezing rain tonight and an inch or two of snow tomorrow.

Your pictures are lovely!

Hi Lisa
Thanks so much for stopping by the Back Porch. The paint chip looking things on the soup are chips of shaved hard cheese. I add cheese to veggie soup now and then.

Yup its pretty much the same here even though I saw and heard the Robin but this is normal for Ontario Canada for it to look and feel like spring Robins show up and get slammed by another storm of some sort may it be snow or freezing rain ! Stay safe and have a good day !

Maybe you will get the predicted snow. Think we are mostly about due, eh? Just a lot of rain in our forecast.

Love the poem, reminds me of Minnesota, LOL!

We haven't had anything but a few flurries so far this winter here in TN. I very seldom watch the weather forcast, instead I watch the cows, cats and birds..they haven't let me down yet!

Stay warm!

What great images Lisa!
it looks like you got what we got last Friday night. Only about 4 inches, but the most snow we've had all winter. It's pretty much gone now, but definitely no robin sightings here in NY yet. Too cold!!!

Have a wonderful week ahead!

lisa.
You know I'm jealous of your snow, and hope that all is well and all are safe and tucked in enjoying the warmth of the evening!

Oh no! Sunny spring-like day here!
As Julia says we have quite good weather here in the UK. Hope the blizzard didn't get any worse.A cup of hot chocolate or cocoa by a lovely fire seems the best thing, until it has gone. It does look pretty through the window. Keep warm and safe, Love Jackie in Surrey, UK.x

Your pictures are just lovely. I really liked the last one - So pretty.
I'm not much of a "winter" person so I'm Happy about not getting much snow this winter. Although it's trying to snow today (Good Grief, it's March for Pete's sake.)
Had to chuckle at the Poem. My hubby is from N. Dakota so he can certainly relate.
