Roland's Relish

Coffee on the front porch?

maybe if there were 3 of me!

It all sounded like a great idea....

I filled my cup and got it to my
favorite spot,
then...
I had to get the camera
to capture this rare moment...

a few more glorious shots
of the morning glories...

then...

I noticed these sitting on the porch...

then I remembered Sall's work clothes
in the washing machine,
another load to fold laying on the couch...
breakfast dishes to wash,
after I do last night's dinner dishes of course...
then I can get some quart jars washed
for today's pickle session...
got to go to the garden for dill yet,
oh brother, need to water things out here!
and what about these weeds????
now...
what did I come out here for??
oh yeah, DILL!

Do your mornings
start off leisurely like mine:)???

Packing Pickles
and
canning
is the routine these days....

Uncle Roland's Relish
was Tuesday's agenda....

this sweet veggie relish
is a favorite at our house!

onions,
peppers,
carrots,
cucumbers,
green tomatoes...

chop, chop, chop....

aren't food processors wonderful?...

my uncle's old recipe says to "grind" the vegetables
I remember using Grandma's old hand grinder...

cranking the handle was a
good workout!...

I still use that old grinder on certain things!

But, the food processor
speeds up the process today...

a good hour or so later,
I had all the veggies chopped and
ready to set for three hours
ahhh, time to
have that cup of coffee!

Want to join me on the porch?

 I'll tell you about
all the wacky ideas I come up
with when I'm weeding my flowers....

Pickles and Petunias
are on my mind these days
hmmm....

Thanks for stopping by today!!

Have a Great Day!!

I'm exhausted just thinking about all the things you accomplish in one single morning. I'm a lazy-bones compared to you.
Have a great day ~:)

Your relish looks delish! I tend to start my mornings slow and easy on days that I don't have to go into work early (9). I tend to do a bunch of chores later in the evening.

My husband commutes and is only home every other week but on the mornings that he is home, we do have a leisurely start so much so that I often times have a hard time finding my groove to get the rest of the day started. Your photos are so lovely!

Lovely photos and I like your hand grinder.
I love making relish too. Your photos are lovely. I would love to sit on your porch and hear about what is on your mind when you are weeding. Some of my thoughts are pretty deep when I do that. :) Right up there when I clean the toilet. :)

Lovely post and photos ! Made me smile . My days aren't as busy as yours even though I am retired but I do get side tracked , getting old I put it down to for me hehe ! My mum used to use a grinder like that on our farm for meat from our own livestock , she would cook a big roast and grind the leftovers for other dishes and she also did a lot of canning and jarring from our veggie gardens ! AHH! Those were the days . I really should do my own as I have some insight as to how ! Have a wonderful day and enjoy that break and coffee you deserve it !

The coffee cup shot makes me want to come sit on the porch with you. OR, you could come sit on mine. :-))
