Change

It was 1965 when my parents moved
our family to Wessington Springs...

I was one year old and hardly remember
anything about our first house there,
{except for the Ginormous trampoline
in the back yard!!}

I think I was 16 when
my siblings told me
it was just a double size
bed spring!! :)
Isn't it funny how
everything was bigger
when you were a child??

I was around 4 when we moved from
town to the country...
I don't remember that
moving day either,
but my memories start at that
house around that age...

Last week we moved our
grand-daughters and daughter
to their new home...

Domino is 5 and Zelda is 2
it will be interesting
what they will remember
from their first house
and their first move....

I know Domino will remember the carrots
she picked the night before we left...
and the garden her and her mother planted together!!

I know ZZ will remember
the great visits her and her Grandpa
had in the back yard...

We will all remember
the ginormous mulberry tree
that acted as a canopy to the
back yard!

The girls will all miss their back yard!!

"All changes, even the most longed for,
have their melancholy;
 for what we leave behind us is a part of ourselves;
we must die to one life before we can enter another.

The new, safer neighborhood
and
the newly remodeled apartment
will be the source
of many new
happy memories!!

I bet Domino will
remember the ride in the moving truck...
she'll probably remember it
as an 18 WHEELER!!

I know I'm going to
remember the three flights
of steps up to their apartment!!

I think Emily will remember
packing and unpacking about a hundred boxes!!

She and her friends are going to love
entertaining in the beautiful new open floor plan!!

Brand new appliances including a dishwasher,
cabinets galore, and one big open space for
the family
all make for one happy Mama!!

It was a gorgeous fall day,
and we all worked really hard
at moving furniture and boxes
and wrangling small children!

At the end of the day
I don't know who was more
exhausted the adults or the kids?

I do know the smiles on
our girl's faces when we left
them to set up their new place
was priceless!!

Grandma and Grandpa went home to the farm
to sleep it off....

"We should'a got us some BenGay Ma!"

"Yep... Goodnight Pa!"

Good Night Girls!
May you share many happy memories
in your new home,
and may this change
be a new beginning to a
a blessed chapter in all of your lives!!
Love,
Lisa

It was a bed spring! That's what the neighbors sister thought too when I caught her and a guy making out on it., no kidding.

Change is good!...We moved 9 times in 12 years and my daughter said she wouldn't trade it for anything...different schools, churches and neighborhoods ...new friends, many that she has stayed in touch with for years.
